the creative spirit

unleashing creativity in my life, my love, and my craftiness

Name:
Location: Denver, Colorado

I am a SAHM of 2 beautiful girls, Rachael and Sarah. I am married to an incredibly intelligent man (Nathan) who is very creative in his own right. I love to be creative and find inspiration everywhere...the challenge is piecing that inspiration together in my life!

I am working on two small felted purses for my girls for Easter and trying to keep my sanity with a baby blanket I'm not currently thinking fondly of.
I am also participating in a Bible study using A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23.

Rambling...

I've been on a mission to compile a variety of Christian SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) sites...or even Christian Mom sites. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing it right. Sometimes I feel like I need information or even encouragement. If you care to peruse these sites, they are listed under Links.
What else is going on? Well, I have a very sick kiddo and have been very occupied by taking care of my very clingy little girl...very tiring. :) It has been nice to be wanted so much, especially since she is really a daddy's girl at heart...but I do feel bad for daddy not being able to be with her as much because she adamantly wants me most of the time. We (like most families) have spring break coming up and I'm trying to think of what things to do with my girls and also what project I would like to work on. That kinda doesn't make sense...me wanting a project while both my girls will be home with me...but for whatever reason, it tends to work for me.
I'm still working on the two little felted bags for my girls for Easter. I think I will also make an anklet and necklace for my older daughter and a bracelet and necklace for my younger daughter...matching the dresses they picked out, of course.
The Bible study is going great...I'm enjoying it a lot and learning a lot... Last week we watched a video "Lump" by Nooma. It had to be one of the most touching videos I've seen...the message it shared was that there is nothing we can do to make Him love us less... If you are curious, you can go to http://www.nooma.org to see clips and see their first video in its entirety.
I think that's about it for now...

Jemez Springs Bath House

If you are ready for a relaxing vacation why not head to New Mexico? From Santa Fe to Taos to Los Alamos to the Jemez Valley, New Mexico is rich in history, art, and culture. Nestled within the quaint town of Jemez Springs you will find a historic little building comfortably sitting among natural hot springs. These hot springs supply the Jemez Springs Bath House with its mineral rich waters. After taking a long soak in their substantial bathtubs, pamper yourself with an herbal wrap (complete with a wonderful face mist) and top it off with the oh-so-relaxing full body massage. From personal experience I can tell you how refreshing and renewing this experience is. Before or after this memorable experience you can take time to witness the God-given beauty inherent in this part of New Mexico, not to mention the God-given talent among the local artists.

OK...I have to admit that I am biased. After all, my mom is the manager of this quaint little bath house. But still, all the above statements are very true. (There, my conscience feels better).

Women of Faith!!

I'm so looking forward to this year's WoF conference! Contagious Joy is the theme...Joy--what a great thing to have! More than just happiness, joy is a contentment, a gladness that does not rely on circumstances. It is something I strive to have--joy within my being, that despite any hardship or frustration, deep down I am filled with hope and grateful for all I have. If you would like more information on WoF, please click on the banner at the bottom of this page.

As for my knitting, I have decided to give each of my girls a small felted purse for Easter. One pink and one purple with a really cute popcorn novelty yarn at the top. The baby blanket is currently residing in my knitting basket until I gain the nerve to start working on it again.

Here are my girls!

Finally, a picture!! These are my girls...those leaves were the absolute best playthings that day.

Still working on that baby blanket. It's driving me up the wall. I've had to put it down many times and actually stopped working on it for a while because it was getting so irritating. The combination of the yarns and my circular needle choice does not work well. The blanket is really slow to work up because the stitches are small and hard to lift off the particular needles I'm using. So, I've picked up some pink and purple wool along with a fun popcorn carrier yarn. I'm going to be making each of my girls an Easter handbag as soon as I either find a pattern I like or come up with my own pattern.

The past couple weeks I've made my share of bun covers and scrunchies for my girls to wear during their dance classes. I also got some closeout material to make some ballet skirts for them. I also have muslin and flannel to make more heat packs...which I think make wonderful gifts. So many projects, so little time!
